Well, if it was only that easy. If you are citizen in one of 57 countries then you can stay in Thailand visa free for a limited amount of time. More about which countries can do that and how long you can find in this text.

As you see in the image above, there are different categories of visa in Thailand. These categories vary from nations being allowed to visit Thailand for 90 days to other nations where citizens have to request a visa in advance.

Here is a list of countries that can visit thailand visa free for 90 days:

Countries that can visit thailand for 30 days visa free:

These countries can visit Thailand visa free for 30 days. This visa can be used 2 times a year although this rule varies (depending if you enter via see or air, usually if entering by air this visa can be used more than twice, but be sure to contact your local embassy if this is the case). On a other note, Good (maybe a little outdated) news: since 29 august 2014 most countries can extend their visa by another 30 days! (here again make sure to check if this apply for your country - beter safe than sorry)

These two countries can stay in Thailand visa free for 14 days: 

  • Cambodia
  • Myanmar (for air arrivals only) 

If your country is not on this list you wil have to follow the normal procedure of acquiring a visa

How much does a visa for Thailand cost?

The original visa which you wil acquire on your destination (if your country is listed here above) if free. if you are planning to extend your visa then this will cost about 1,900 baht (=51 euro = 54 dollar)
